For over 20 years, he has been capturing and sharing images that reflect the natural beauty of both North and South Carolina. A graduate of Clemson University with a degree in Forestry, Witt is active in natural resource management issues in this region, and is a member of the North American Nature Photographers Association. Witt recently served as president of the board of trustees for the Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy based in Asheville, NC.
Growing up in Kingsport, TN and now living part of the year on his farm near Elk Park, NC, Witt’s roots are in the Southern Appalachian Mountains. The Appalachian Trail and Roan Highlands are within walking distance of the farmland, providing spectacular subjects and scenery for his photography. Witt also loves the Carolina Coast. His family has property on St. Helena Island near Beaufort, SC, and most of his coastal photography comes from this area.
Witt’s work has appeared in local and national publications, and is frequently used by conservation groups and in environmental education programs. Prints of his photography are sold through several galleries around the Carolinas.
